Itinerary

Day 1. Arrive Los Angeles

Be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel before enjoying a Welcome Dinner this evening.

Day 2. Getty Museum and Villa

Today visit the J. Paul Getty Museum. Costing $1 billion to build, the stunning gardens surrounding this museum were designed by artist Robert Irwin. The waterfall terraces flow down to the floating azalea maze creating a unique centrepiece to the garden. After exploring, lose yourself in the galleries filled with European treasures. You may wish to visit the Getty Villa and garden this afternoon.

Day 3. Huntington Gardens

Enjoy a visit to the Huntington Gardens, which are sprawled over 207 acres with 14,000 different plant species and are maintained by 40 gardeners. Explore the amazing art collection and a world famous library of books. Enjoy a tour of the gardens, followed by a relaxing lunch in the Tea Room overlooking the rose gardens.

Day 4. Lotus Land, Santa Barbara

Lotus land is a fantasy world created with dramatic plant combinations and exotic hard landscaping. With paths lined by diamonds of green glass and a Mediterranean pond bordered by abalone shells, this is a garden that will challenge and excite you.

Day 5. Hearst Castle

Today, visit the amazing castle created by mining magnate William Randolph Hearst and designed by Julia Morgan. A tangle of courtyards, terraces with their own gardens, pools and fountains were used to link all the buildings. Choose to wander through the gardens or visit one of the museums.

Day 6. San Francisco Gardens

Considered among America’s finest gardens, Filoli is now owned by the National Trust. Among the sections of the gardens to explore are the Sunken Garden, Pool Pavilion Garden, a large Walled Garden, Rose and Knot Gardens. San Francisco Botanical Gardens is a floral treasure with more than 7,500 varieties of plants.
