Day 1. Arrive Sydney to Bowral

Depart Sydney hotel at 9.30am and travel to Bowral in the Southern Highlands. On the way visit Mount Annan Botanic Gardens, with displays from all over the world. Afterwards visit the private garden, Greenbrier Park. Enjoy a Welcome Dinner this evening.

Day 2. Red Cow Farm, Retford Park and Bowral Tulip Festival

Today visit Red Cow Farm and Retford Park. Visit Bowral’s Tulip Festival, an annual event of colourful blooms.

Day 3. Floriade and Canberra Sightseeing

Arrive into Canberra and visit Floriade. Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Canberra along with spectacular views from atop of Mt Ainslie.

Day 4. Private Gardens of the Monaro

Today we travel south to the Monaro High Country, and stunning private gardens, situated on historic merino sheep and cattle stations. Meet the owners and enjoy a delicious home cooked lunch.

Day 5. Canberra Gardens and Attractions, Freedom of Choice

Today enjoy the freedom to choose to visit the Australian War Memorial, the National Gallery of Australia or take a tour of new Parliament House. Afterwards take a tour of the National Arboretum one of the world’s largest living collections of rare trees, where you will have time to enjoy lunch. This afternoon visit a beautiful private garden and meet its owner.

Day 6. Mayfield Garden and Private Garden Visit

Travel to Oberon to the privately owned Mayfield Garden, the largest privately owned cool climate garden in Australia before arriving into Leura. Afterwards visit another private garden in the area.

Day 7. Blackheath, Mt Tomah Gardens and Nooroo

Today enjoy the beauty of the region with a stop in Blackheath and a stroll around a private garden. Walk through the Mt Tomah Botanic Gardens before visiting the private garden of Nooroo, known for its wisteria collection. Enjoy a Farewell Dinner this evening.

Day 8. Blue Mountains and Depart Sydney

This morning admire the beauty of the Three Sisters. Visit private gardens in Leura before visiting a rare plant nursery in Leura before travelling back to Sydney, arriving at approximately 6pm.

  • Judy Horton is a much awarded horticulturist who has been a radio garden adviser for more than 25 years. She gives talks, writes gardening articles and books, and has been responsible for six updates of the best-selling Yates Garden Guide. She is a keen gardener and is currently horticultural editor for the Garden Clubs of Australia’s magazine Our Gardens.

Fitness Level

  • Low – These tours involve travel close to home and include longer stays in one location. Guests need to be able to walk on uneven surfaces and stairs, and be able to stand for up to one hour and keep up with the pace of the group.
