Itinerary

Day 1. Santiago, Chile

Transfer to your luxury hotel in Santiago’s historic centre.

Day 2. Puerto Montt, Embark Cruise

After breakfast, fly to the resort town of Puerto Montt and board the MS Island Sky.

Day 3. Puerto Montt

Today head to the Vincente Perez Rosales National Park. Return to the ship via the stunning lake district town of Puerto Varas.

Day 4. Chiloe Island

Visit Chiloe Island, one of the region’s first Spanish strongholds. Our visit ashore on this mainly forested island will include Castro, one of the oldest towns in the Americas.

Day 5. Chilean Fjords, Punta Arenas and Flora of Torres del Paine National Park

During the next seven days, a true nature’s garden comes to life as we explore Patagonia, with its vast area of mountains, glaciers, fields of wildflowers, lakes and waterfalls. From Punta Arenas we will travel to Magdalena Island to see the resident penguins and hope to navigate the Kirke Narrows. Enjoy a full day in the Torres del Paine National Park. Look out for yellow and white ‘tongues’ of the porcelain orchid and periwinkle Patagonian edelweiss.

Day 12. Cape Horn

Today we navigate around Cape Horn, one of the world’s best known maritime landmarks. Weather permitting we hope to use Zodiacs to land and walk to the Magellan monument.

Day 13. Ushuaia disembark, Buenos Aires, Argentina

After breakfast transfer to the airport for our flight to Buenos Aires.Upon arrival we’ll take in the sights including, the Colón Theatre, the Recoleta neighbourhood and the cemetery where the former First Lady, Eva Peron, ‘Evita’ is buried.

Day 14. Buenos Aires, Private Gardens

Enjoy visiting some magnificent private gardens in the affluent neighbourhoods of Lomas de San Isidro, Pacheco and Pilar. This evening enjoy an exhilarating tango show.

Day 15. Estancia Visit

Venture out to a traditional estancia with parklands set out by French-born botanist and architect Carlos Thays. Enjoy free time this afternoon.

Day 16. Buenos Aires to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Upon arrival in Rio de Janeiro enjoy a sightseeing tour to the top of Corcovado Mountain to the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue with an exquisite view over the city.

Day 17. Rio de Janeiro Sightseeing

Today visit Parque do Flamengo, the Jardim Botanico do Rio de Janeiro. The lush gardens include around 6,000 species including bromeliads, orchids, carnivorous plants and palms.

Day 18. Rio de Janeiro, Burle Marx Gardens

This morning visit Sitio, artist and garden designer Roberto Burle Marx’s former home and garden outside Rio - sure to be a highlight. Afterwards explore Instituto Moreira Salles, an abstract modern garden, designed by Burle Marx.

Day 19. Petropolis, Burle Marx Gardens

Take a tour to Petropolis outside of Rio, to visit Instiuto Samanbaia, featuring gardens designed by Burle Marx.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport.
