Active Discoveries - Locally Inspired Immersions
From east to west, Australia boasts an incredible array of natural wonders, with each region harbouring its own particular treasures. Our active journeys allow us to immerse ourselves in their spectacular scenery, enjoying nature on foot and a more intimate experience.
A Natural High
Well-known for its hiking trails and panoramic hilltop views, the Grampians also plays host to many wondrous wildflowers. Your Botanical Guide will accompany you on leisurely walks to see these marvels of nature in full bloom. Walking tours take place during three of the five days on tour and range in length from three to five-and-a-half kilometres. Discover waterfalls, private gardens, and take in the breathtaking views available from Reed Lookout.
Slow Island Travel
With seven nights spent in the same location, our Lord Howe Island tour enables you to unpack once and get the most from your experience. Daily walks mean there is ample time to appreciate the unique flora and fauna of the area. Your dedicated guide, the naturalist, author and photographer Dr Ian Hutton will guide you to tall palm forests and help you identify some of the 14 species of seabird that breed here in their thousands. Five of this tour's eight days include walks that range from one to six kilometres in length.
Giants of the West
In Western Australia, walk among a canopy of soaring tingle trees in the Valley of the Giants. Many of these colossal trees are more than 400 years old. Elsewhere, we wander the grounds of Perth's Kings Park, admiring its diverse collection of wildflowers. And go in search of carpets of wildflowers around Geraldton.
Regardless of which region appeals most to you, you're bound to enjoy the slower pace and opportunity for discovery that is fundamental to these more active tours. While the walks on these tours range from being relatively easy to those requiring a greater level of fitness, a good degree of mobility is required on all of our active walking tours.
