Day 1. Arrive Adelaide & Sightseeing

Be met at Adelaide airport at 12.30pm or The Playford Adelaide at 1.30pm. Enjoy a sightseeing tour and a Welcome Dinner.

Day 2. AL-RU Farm & Seppeltsfield Winery

Enjoy a private garden visit to AL-RU Farm, a cattle property featuring a stunning garden. Afterwards, tour the Barossa Valley then visit Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop. Later tour the historic Seppeltsfield Winery.

Day 3. Beaumont House, Adelaide Hills, Hahndorf & Hans Heysen’s Studio

Visit the Mediterranean style Beaumont House, built in 1849. Continue to the quaint German-influenced village of Hahndorf, then visit Hans Heysen’s home and studio, to see the magnificent gums he was so famous for painting, then meet Gardening Australia TV personality Sophie Thomson as she shows us around Sophie’s Patch.

Day 4. Himeji Gardens, Carrick Hill & Adelaide Botanic Gardens

Tour the famous Haigh’s Chocolate Factory and sample the exquisite delicacies. Afterwards visit Adelaide’s Japanese sister city garden, the serene Himeji Gardens. Tour Carrick Hill Manor House with time to explore the vast gardens. Enjoy lunch and take a look inside the Australian Museum of Gardening. This afternoon either explore the Art Gallery of South Australia or tour the Botanic Gardens with your Botanical Guide. Opened to the public in 1857, the gardens were designed by George Francis.

Day 5. Adelaide & Clare Valley

Stop for lunch at Lyndoch Lavender Farm and take a tour to learn about the production of lavender for its commercial use. We then arrive at Sevenhill in the Clare Valley. The cellars were established in 1851 by Austrian Jesuits and today remains as the only remaining Jesuit-owned winery in Australia.

Day 6. Martindale Hall, Burra & Bungaree Station

Arrive at one of South Australia’s best known homesteads, Martindale Hall. A living museum, take a look inside this Georgian style house to see how the upper class lived in the late 1800s. Continue on to the historic town of Burra before visiting Bungaree Station, which ran 100,000 sheep in its heyday.

Day 7. The Heritage Garden, Depart Adelaide

This morning visit The Heritage Garden, a six-acre private garden with 2,000 rose bushes. Travel back to Adelaide this afternoon where our tour concludes at the airport at approximately 2pm flights to depart after 3.30pm or the post-tour hotel at approximately 2.30pm.

Visit Sophie Thomson’s sustainable organic garden

  • A presenter for ABC’s Gardening Australia, Sophie Thomson opens up her property ‘Sophie’s Patch’ for Botanica. The 3-acre property is where she has her own sustainable organic garden including a large veggie patch, fruit trees and what she hopes will be a breathtaking climate compatible ornamental garden. Tour the property with Sophie and sample produce from the garden for afternoon tea.


Fitness Level

  • This tour requires a low level of fitness – Involves travel close to home and includes longer stays in one location. Guests need to be able to walk on uneven surfaces and stairs, and be able to stand up for to one hour.
