Be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. This evening enjoy a Welcome Dinner to meet your fellow travellers and Botanical Guide.

Visit Meiji Shrine, an oasis of serenity surrounded by over 100,000 trees which will be displaying beautiful autumn leaves. Next visit Roppogni Hills Observation Deck, which houses the Mori Art Museum, where on a clear day you can see Mt Fuji. After lunch we will visit Nezu Museum with an excellent collection of Japanese and East Asian Art, hidden in a forest-like garden. Finally visit Shinjuku Gyoen Park, a typical Japanese landscape garden.

Travel to the town of Nikko, the center of Shinto and Buddhist worship for many centuries and renowned to be spectacular in autumn. Visit the Toshugu Shrine complex and the Old Imperial Villa featuring Edo, Meiji and Taisho architecture and surrounded by a beautiful garden. Afterwards visit Kirifuri Falls which translates to falling mist.

Visit Asakusa, Tokyo’s old town and enjoy some time to shop. Afterwards visit Sensoji, Tokyo’s oldest temple and Kiyosumi Garden before boarding a bullet train to Kanazawa.

This morning visit Omicho Market, home to more than 200 stalls of a wide variety of products. We then visit Kenroku-en Garden, classified as one of Japan’s three most beautiful gardens. Afterwards visit the Nagamachi Samurai District, to see a demonstration of Yuzen silk painting followed by a visit to the Nomura Samurai House with a tea-ceremony room.

Travel via express train to Kyoto, home to the geisha. Upon arrival visit the Tenryuji temple, a World Heritage-listed site. Travel through the bamboo groves on your way to Nonomiya Shrine, referenced in numerous works of historic literature.

Visit Nijo Castle and their stunning gardens. Then visit Kinkakuji the famous Golden Pavilion, with its top two floors completely covered in gold-leaf. After lunch visit Ryoanji Temple, a World Heritage site, known for its rock garden.

Travel to the former capital of Nara and see the Todaiji temple, the world’s largest wooden structure and home to Japan’s largest Buddha. Visit Nara park home to a large population of tame deer. After lunch visit Kasuga Taisha shrine, Shinen Manyo Botanical Garden and Heinan Shrine and garden.

Travel by bullet train to Himeji and visit Himeji Castle, one of Japan’s biggest and most beautiful. After lunch visit Kokoen garden, which consists of nine separate walled gardens and is particularly attractive in the autumn as the maple trees turn vibrant yellow and red. Travel to Tottori, on the Sea of Japan.

Visit the Adachi Museum of Art, which has a magnificent garden. Afterwards see the Autumn leaves of Mt Daisen before travelling to the city of Okayama.

Visit Koraku-en garden, one of Japans most significant gardens - the name meaning ‘garden of pleasure after’. Travel to Kurashiki for lunch and visit Ohashi House. Travel via bullet train to Osaka where you will enjoy a Farewell Dinner this evening.
