This morning we explore the Art Gallery of South Australia, with its fine collection of works by Australian and overseas artists. Enjoy a guided tour and talk about the works of indigenous artists inspired by the outback we will view on this journey. Next we travel up to the Adelaide Hills to visit Hans Heysen’s home and studio, to see the magnificent gums he was so famous for painting. We then board the MS Caledonian Sky, where you will have time to settle into your cabin before enjoying a Welcome Dinner.

Take an exciting charter flight over the Flinders Ranges, Wilpena Pound, Lake Eyre and the mysterious Marree Man. See the landscapes which inspired many of Heysen’s paintings as we sweep over the burnt-orange terrain of the Flinders Ranges. See the stark white salt pans and, if in flood, the mirror-like waters of Lake Eyre contrasted by the surrounding desert landscape.

Arrive on Kangaroo Island, one of the world’s great nature-based destinations, boasting an abundance of flora and fauna. Our day begins amid the beautiful floral displays of a local private garden, before we make our way to the Parndana Community Garden, a project developed by celebrity gardener Sophie Thomson in response to the 2020 bushfires. Today’s final stop is Seal Bay, home to spectacular coastal views and a large colony of Australian sea lions.

Arrive in Port Lincoln, on the Lower Eyre Peninsula. This region hosts one of the largest fishing fleets in Australia, and is the centre of blue fin tuna fishing, making it a foodie centre. Afterwards, we visit Coffin Bay Oysters, meeting with the farmers and learning how the oysters are harvested here. Our tour concludes with a tasting. We then travel to Coffin Bay National Park and witness the stunning scenery, where rugged limestone cliffs contrast with sand dunes and pure white beaches, set against the inviting turquoise waters. Our travels then take us to Point Avoid, Almonta Beach, Golden Island and Yangie Bay. Along the way, we hope to spot dolphins, kangaroos, emus, reptiles and an array of birdlife. This afternoon, enjoy a unique guided tour of the Constantia Gallery and Workshop. Since 1977 Constantia has created some of the world’s finest furniture.

Travel to Point Labatt and observe the sea lion colony from a purpose-built viewing platform. Continue on to the Westall Way Loop Coastal Scenic Drive along the rugged coastline, taking in the native flora of the region. Marvel at the stunning cliffs and ocean below, and stop at Smooth Pool for some snorkelling.

Today we explore the town of Smoky Bay. Visit Ceduna Arts and Culture Centre, which provides development opportunities for local Indigenous communities and also sells artwork on behalf of artists in the Far West Coast region of South Australia. Spend the afternoon exploring the spectacular landscapes of Laura Bay Conservation Park.

Spend the next two days crossing the Great Australian Bight, which separates the east and west of Australia. Spend time relaxing aboard your ship enjoying the sea breezes or participate in some sketch-booking classes to capture the dramatic coastal scenery of the Great Australian Bight.

Spend a further day at sea as your ship makes its way into Western Australian waters. Learn more about the wildflowers of Western Australia with a lecture by our Botanical Guide.

Dock at Israelite Bay and take a Zodiac to the shore, where you’ll find woodlands, sand dunes and salt lakes, as well as the restored ruins of the National Trust-classified Post Office and Telegraph Station. Go for a swim and, if weather permits, enjoy a beach BBQ. Its then on to remote Daw Island, home to a large seal colony and a plethora of birdlife.

This morning we arrive into the pretty coastal town of Esperance, renowned for its beautiful white sandy beaches. We visit a unique private garden in the region before taking in the landscapes of Cape Le Grand National Park.

This morning we will visit Bluff Knoll in the Stirling Ranges, one of the most unique ecosystems in Australia and home to around 1500 endemic plants. Take a gentle hike with your Botanical guide to view the native flora before returning to Albany to visit Banksia Farm. Here we will learn more about the wildflowers which grow in the region and visit the world’s only complete banksia arboretum.

Arrive into Augusta and travel to Margaret River to Swallows Welcome, which boasts a colourful garden and some stunning botanical art.  We then visit Leeuwin Estate winery. Afterwards we will tour the magnificent Paul Bangay-designed Secret Garden before travelling down the coast to see Cape Leeuwin, the most south-westerly mainland point of the Australian continent and where the Indian Ocean meets the Southern Ocean.

Today we will have time to explore a private garden renowned as one of the finest in the southwest of Australia.  We will also see the National Trust property Wonnerup, nestled between the Tuart Forest and the Vasse Estuary Wetlands. Have time to explore the famous Busselton Jetty before making our way back to the ship for our Farewell Dinner
