Itinerary

Day 1. Arrive Melbourne to Grampians

Depart from the Marriott Hotel at 8.00am or Melbourne Airport at 9.00am. Arrive at David Glenn’s Lambley Nursery for a tour of his renowned dry garden. Continue on past historical Beaufort to enjoy lunch in a private homestead garden. Arrive later to the majestic Grampians with a visit to Halls Gap. Spent the next three nights at the award winning Royal Mail Hotel in Dunkeld where we will enjoy a welcome dinner this evening.

Day 2. Coonawarra and Penola

Travel through Coleraine and Penola to Yallum Park Homestead, built by John Riddoch, founder of Coonawarra. Visit the Mary MacKillop Centre and a leading winery of the region. In Hamilton enjoy a viewing of the art collection at the Gallery, before dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 3. Private Gardens & Homesteads

Tour the kitchen gardens of the Royal Mail this morning before exploring the private gardens and homesteads of Narrapumelap, Wiltshire and Toora West. Meet the owners, including Botanica founder, Judy Vanrenen, and hear how they created their gardens from bare paddock.

Day 4. Port Fairy and Lorne

We make our way to the coastal town of Port Fairy where we visit a private garden, then begin our journey along The Great Ocean Road, making a stop at the iconic Twelve Apostles and travelling through the lush Otway National Park to Lorne.

Day 5. Geelong and Werribee Park Mansion

Scenic drive on the Great Ocean Road and a visit to The Heights homestead and garden in Geelong before exploring the low water Botanic Garden overlooking Corio Bay. After lunch, we travel to Werribee Park Mansion and the Victorian State Rose garden before arriving back in Melbourne. Your tour concludes at 4.30pm at Melbourne Airport or at the Melbourne Marriott Hotel at 5.30pm.

Additional Information

Wiltshire Garden

  • This is where Botanica’s founder, Judy Vanrenen, found her inspiration to begin Botanica. It is an eclectic cottage garden that has been in her family for over 60 years and contains many drought tolerant plants from around the world.

 

Fitness Level 

  • Low - These tours involve travel close to home and include longer stays in one location. Guests need to be able to walk on uneven surfaces and stairs, and be able to stand for up to one hour and keep up with the pace of the group.
