Visit Simon Rickard’s garden

  • So many of our guests have had the good fortune to travel with botanical guide, Simon Rickard and now Simon has generously consented to occasionally opening his own private garden to Botanica guests. “I like gardens that make me think as well as feel. I enjoy the technical challenge of growing plants from different places together and creating unique aesthetic experiences. Is there any nicer feeling than having your own garden take your breath away, and thinking ‘I did that’?” says Simon.

Autumn in Melbourne

  • The city’s European-styled gardens and wide boulevards are aglow with the burnished leaves of English Oaks, White Poplars, Plane trees, elms, conifers and cedars. The amber and copper hues
are contrasted spectacularly with lush southern hemisphere evergreens such as Moreton Bay Figs and Canary Island dates. Together they create the unique and glorious colour palette that can only be seen in Melbourne in autumn
