Melbourne return

Depart Melbourne and travel to Peppermint Ridge Farm, where you will enjoy a guided tour of the native food garden followed by a four-course lunch highlighting the flavours of Australian native foods. We then continue on to a beautiful private garden before arriving in Warragul. 

Stay: Two Nights, Warragul, Mercure Hotel or similar

Today we visit Janalli Garden, created to reflect the multicultural diversity of Australia by incorporating Australian native plants and Australian bush food plants. This is a garden on a grand scale, with lakes, many exotic plantings, a formal Japanese garden, a 60-metre rose arbour, plenty of vibrant autumn foliage, a small vineyard, nut walk, citrus grove and more. Next we visit Picardy Garden, a romantic garden designed to complement a French-style home. Picardy Garden features parterre beds that are filled year round with colour. We also visit one of Victoria’s most spectacular gardens, Boughton Hall, for lunch.

This morning we travel to Walhalla for a journey on the Goldfields Railway. Pass over six large trestle bridges, crisscrossing Stringers Creek. See ferns and wildflowers while learning about the gold mining history of the region. Next we stop in Sale to visit the 150-year-old botanic gardens that owe their heritage to Baron Ferdinand Von Mueller, the state’s first government botanist, and William Guilfoyle, then director of the Royal Melbourne Botanic Gardens.

This morning, visit the historic Nyerimilang Homestead, surrounded by beautiful gardens and magnificent views over the Gippsland Lakes. We then continue on to Paynesville for a lunchtime cruise of the Gippsland Lakes. This afternoon we will visit a unique private garden.

Today we depart Metung to travel the Great Alpine Road over to Dinner Plain. We take in the alpine wildflowers of the region and learn about the history of the high-country cattlemen. This afternoon we visit Shadybrook Cottage in Harrietville, a magnificent cool-climate landscape garden which was featured on Gardening Australia.

Today we explore the goldmining towns of Beechworth, Yackandandah and surrounds. Visit the Chiltern National Park in search of wildflowers before visiting a beautiful private garden in Stanley.

We depart Milawa this morning and travel through the King Valley before visiting another private garden. Arrive back to Melbourne at approximately 4pm.
